How to Request Mediation

To initiate mediation, one or both parties should contact SMCS using one of the following methods:

In the correspondence, please include the following:

    • Employer
      • Name for Employer’s representative
      • Contact information, phone number and email

       

    • Employee/Employee Organization
      • Name for Employee/Employee Organization’s representative
      • Contact information, phone number and email

 

  • Type of mediation needed (grievance, impasse, etc.)

A mediator will be assigned and will contact the parties to schedule dates. As an alternative, the parties may mutually agree to request the services of a particular mediator, and may contact that person directly.
