Eric Cu Named Chief Administrative Law Judge

Eric Cu has been named PERB’s Chief Administrative Law Judge. He has served as the Interim Chief Administrative Law Judge since the retirement of former Chief Administrative Law Judge Shawn Cloughesy at the end of July. PERB is fortunate to have someone with Eric’s skill and experience to lead the Administrative Law division through this transition.

Having been with PERB since 2005, Cu first became an administrative law judge for PERB in 2011. He then served as a senior administrative law judge and as the deputy chief administrative law judge. He has presided over and decided more than 140 cases. Before becoming an administrative law judge, Cu was a Regional Attorney in PERB’s Office of the General Counsel from 2005 to 2011. His lengthy tenure makes him PERB’s longest continuously serving employee.

From 2004 to 2005, Cu worked as an Associate with the law firm Rothner, Segall & Greenstone. There his practice focused on traditional labor and employment law in the public and private sector. Cu has also served as a volunteer Associate Editor for The Developing Labor Law treatise for 20 years. He graduated from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles.
