SMCS has mediators that can assist parties in resolving disputes such as impasses and grievances. These mediators are neutral and impartial and assist the parties to achieve settlement through a confidential mediation process.
To initiate mediation, one or both parties should contact SMCS using one of the following methods:

In the correspondence, please include the following:
- Employer
- Name for Employer’s representative
- Contact information; phone number and email
- Employee/Employee Organization
- Name for Employee/Employee Organization’s representative
- Contact information; phone number and email
- Employer
- Type of mediation needed (grievance, impasse, etc.)
A mediator will be assigned and will contact the parties to schedule dates. As an alternative, the parties may mutually agree to request the services of a particular mediator, and may contact that person directly.
